Amiga A3640 CPU Board Repair

Chapter 10
Precautions & Safety

Safety first.
Safety first.
Safety first.

I cannot over-emphasize this. Before you start work, the first thing that you should do is remove the power cord to the Amiga. To be sure, remove it from both the wall (or outlet strip), and the back of the computer. That way, if you grabbed the wrong cord, you will still be safe.

Do not go poking around inside the Amiga while power is applied - ever!

Remember, while there may be only 5 volts, it's not the voltage that kills, but the current!

Ok, when using the alcohol, be careful. Do not get it into your eyes. Don't drink it. Don't let it stay on your skin very long.

The electrolyte used in the capacitors is very caustic. Treat it as you would any dangerous chemical. Thoroughly wash your hands after handling the A3640 board. You do not want to handle the board and then put your hands in your mouth.

I think that about covers it.
