Many times it is necessary to verify printed circuit board designs. For example, you may know that the RESET signal is tied to pin 7 of U3, but where else does it go? If you are using a multi-sheet schematic, this can get tedious very quickly.
DBX2List solves this problem by extracting the netlist information directly from your P-CAD 200x database and writing it out to a text file that then can be used by the engineering staff to checkout and/or verify connectivity in a design. It can be quickly seen from the example below that the RESET signal is connected to pin 7 of U3 and also to pin 7 of U4. (A list of Inputs can be seen by moving the mouse over the 'Input' and clicking the Left Mouse Button.)
DBX2List has been enhanced to allow the writing of various Netlist formats such as EDIF 2 0 0, CadStar RINF, PADS ASCII and Cadnetix. This allows the Designer more options for using P-CAD 2004 for Schematic Capture, and a foreign PCB Layout tool, for example. (A list of Outputs can be seen by moving the mouse over the 'Output' and clicking the Left Mouse Button.)
DBX2List has been updated to allow for Netlists to be extracted that include Bus Names with the Net Names. This gives the Designer a more accurate and complete view of the Schematic by including the Bus Names in the Netlist.
>NEW!! DBX2List has a new option added - that allows the Sheet Number of the Schematic to be added to the RefDes-PinNum. This aids in locating the Sheet of the Schematic where the Node is.
DBX2List performs Single Node Checking, and flags any Single Node Nets in the resulting Netlist Report.
NEW!! An option has been added that allows for checking the design for 'Unconnected' Components. This aids in the locating of Patterns that have been 'designed out', which can then be deleted from the Design. (A list of Options can be seen by moving the mouse over the 'Options' and clicking the Left Mouse Button.)
DBX2List uses the ACCEL DataBase eXchange (DBX) Interface to extract the netlist information from your Schematic or Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs. DBX2List is also able to use ACCEL ASCII Netlists for input.
DBX2List is a 32-bit program that runs in a Windows 95/98/XP environment, and has been updated to work with the latest Version of P-CAD 2004 - Version 18.
The example file shown below is the result of running DBX2List. Note that the first line documents the date and time the list was generated. Below that is information that describes the file- name, title, author, date, etc. The header information is taken directly from the database. This makes it easier to document later what database the netlist came from. After the header, the netlist is presented in a sorted and easy to read style. The Net Names are on the left, and the connectivity information (Net Node) is on the right. If the node list continues beyond one line, it is conveniently indented. The file can be generated with one node per line to six nodes per line (to save paper).
